Membership Matters…

Why is membership important?

There are a variety of answers people might give to this question. Some want their membership status to show others that they are spiritually healthy or have a good standing in the community. For them, membership means they’re “good people” – and good with God.

At Hope, we have a different way of thinking about membership. As followers of Jesus, our primary call is to love, and it’s much harder to love well over the long haul without making a commitment. Membership is our way of making that commitment. It helps us do the hard work of building trust, learning how to serve well, and deepening our friendships.

At its best, membership helps us to love as Jesus loves – and to grow in love.
